On a chilly January evening at The Adrian Flux Waterfront in Norwich — a venue known for championing alternative rock and punk-infused acts — Hot Wax delivered an amazing performance on their ongoing Hot Shock Tour on 29th January 2026. The Hastings-via-Brighton trio have been steadily building momentum across the UK and Europe, and this intimate Waterfront show was a perfect showcase for their raw energy and fiery stage presence.

Hot Wax — composed of Tallulah Sim-Savage (vocals and guitar), Lola Sam (bass), and Alfie Sayers (drums) — have become one of Britain’s most exciting emerging rock bands. Their sound blends alt-rock, grunge, and post-punk influences into high-octane, emotionally charged anthems. From small local gigs to major festival slots and tours with established acts like Royal Blood and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, they’ve earned a reputation for electrifying live shows full of passion and sheer force.

With Hot Shock — their debut album released in March 2025 — at the centre of the setlist, the Waterfront gig felt like both a celebration of their journey so far and a glimpse of a band on the brink of even bigger stages.

The crowd at the Waterfront was buzzing even before Hot Wax hit the stage, a mix of long-time fans and newcomers drawn in by the tour buzz and the band’s energetic reputation. When Tallulah, Lola, and Alfie launched into their opening number, “Hard Goodbye”, the small room instantly transformed — guitars blaring, drums pounding, and voices raised in unison. The trio’s tight chemistry was clear from the first chord: Tallulah’s gritty vocals cut through the mix with urgency, while Lola’s bass lines rumbled like an approaching earthquake, and Alfie’s drumming drove the songs forward with unrelenting force.

Highlights of the night included blistering renditions of “In Her Bedroom” and “Strange To Be Here” — both fan favourites from Hot Shock that translated stunningly to the live setting, their hooks igniting the crowd.

Audience engagement was one of the evening’s strongest threads. Tallulah joked and connected with the crowd between songs, while Lola’s charismatic stage presence had fans shouting back lyrics and cheering with infectious enthusiasm. Songs like “She’s Got A Problem” and “Pharmacy” — key singles from the album — brought waves of applause and sing-alongs that filled the room with an almost theatrical intensity.

By the time the band wrapped their set with an encore blast of their most anthemic numbers “One More Reason” and “Rip It Out”, it was clear this Norwich show was far more than just another stop on the tour. It was a moment of connection between a rising band and an eager crowd of fans — one that left the room buzzing long after the final amps quieted.

If Hot Wax continue on this trajectory, they’re not just touring — they’re shaping a generation’s soundtrack, one thunderous gig at a time.
