On a hot and humid Friday, 19th June 2026, British alt-rock band A returned to the stage at the Adrian Flux Waterfront in Norwich for a special launch party celebrating their long-awaited new album, “Prang”. For fans who had waited over two decades for new material, the night felt less like a standard gig and more like a reunion. One charged with nostalgia, happiness, and renewed energy.

Formed in the mid-1990s, A rose to fame during the late ‘90s and early 2000s with their infectious blend of pop-punk hooks and alternative rock attitude. Led by charismatic frontman Jason Perry, alongside guitarist Mark Chapman, bassist Richard Trigg, drummer Adam Perry and keyboardist Giles Perry, the band built a large following through albums like “Hi-Fi Serious” and “Teen Dance Ordinance”. Known for their playful yet punchy songwriting, A carved out a distinct place in British rock before stepping away from the spotlight for an extended hiatus. Their return with Prang in 2026 marked their first studio release in over 20 years, making this tour, and particularly this intimate Waterfront show, especially significant.

The Waterfront proved the perfect setting for this album launch. As doors opened, there was an immediate buzz among the crowd with a mix of longtime fans who had grown up with the band and younger listeners discovering them through this new album. The venue’s close quarters amplified every cheer, every chant, and every guitar riff, creating a sense of connection that larger arenas often lack.

A took to the stage to rapturous applause, launching straight into “Foghorn”, a throwback to their first album from 1997. Its bright, energetic tone set the mood for the evening, signalling that while the band may have been absent for years, their spirit remained intact. From there, they delivered a set that balanced fresh material with fan favourites, weaving new songs seamlessly into their catalogue.

Tracks from Prang formed the backbone of the night. “Walkover” and “Bring On The Likes” brought sharp riffs and catchy choruses, while “Shit Summer” injected a raw, tongue-in-cheek energy that had the crowd bouncing in unison. “Hello Sunshine” stood out as one of the evening’s most explosive moments, its driving beat igniting a mini-mosh pit near the front. Meanwhile, “Lifeline” offered a more reflective pause, with Jason’s vocals carrying an emotional weight that reflected the album’s themes of resilience and growth.

Mixed with the new material, were classic tracks that drew some of the loudest reactions of the night. Each familiar intro sparked instant recognition, with the audience singing along word-for-word, turning the venue into a collective chorus. The band’s chemistry was undeniable, being tight, energetic, and the whole band clearly enjoying being back together on stage.

What truly defined the evening, however, was the atmosphere. There was a palpable sense of celebration. Not just of a new album, but of the band’s enduring legacy. Between songs, Jason spoke candidly about the journey back to recording, sharing anecdotes that added a personal touch to the performance. The crowd responded in kind, their enthusiasm never dipping from the opening note to the final encore.

By the time the set closed, the Waterfront felt electric. Fans spilled out into the humid Norwich night still buzzing, simply revelling in having witnessed a band reclaim their place. It was more than just an album launch, it was a reminder of why A mattered in the first place with their ability to craft songs that are fun, heartfelt, and impossible not to shout along to.
A’s Waterfront performance stood out as something special. An intimate, high-energy celebration of past, present, and future, all wrapped into one unforgettable night.
