Banshee has built a name for herself over the last few years by doing things a bit differently. Her sound pulls from heavy music but mixes in elements of hyperpop and trap, which gives it a more modern edge. She’s described it as “fairy metal”, which makes sense once you hear it. It can switch between aggressive and melodic pretty quickly, but still feels consistent.

A lot of what she writes about comes from personal experience, and that’s a big part of why people connect with it. Her lyrics often touch on misogyny, harassment and the way women are treated in heavier music spaces, but also on things like identity, control, and feeling out of place. It’s not dressed up or made vague. She tends to be quite direct with it, which gives the songs more weight live.

There’s also a sense of reclaiming space in what she does. Rather than softening those experiences, she leans into them and turns them into something louder and more confrontational. At the same time, there are still moments that feel more vulnerable, which stops it all from becoming one-note. That balance between anger and honesty is what makes it land.

Live, it all felt very immediate. There wasn’t much space between her and the crowd, and she didn’t try to create any. She just got straight into it and kept things moving. The set flowed quickly, with no long pauses, and that worked well in a room like this.

The crowd were fully involved from early on. No one was really standing back. Everyone was packed in and reacting to everything as it happened. It gave the set a bit of unpredictability, but in a way that added to it rather than taking away.

By the end, the room felt properly worn out. Not in a chaotic way, just like everyone had been part of something and given it their full attention. It was a simple show in terms of setup, but it didn’t need anything more than that.
