Meet the founders of Broken Static, the online mag born from late night deep dives, emotional over-sharing, and a serious nostalgia hangover. Together, we’ve built a space where angst is art, and the early internet spirit still lives loud.

Haylea
My name is Haylea, and I am one-third of Broken Static. I am 40 years old and live in a city in the East of England. I have two dogs, a husband, and some of the best friends I could wish for.
I have been a photographer for about 15 years, mostly doing weddings, family photoshoots, and newborn photography. For the past several months, I have been doing concert photography after taking a break from my camera for a couple of years to focus on other things. I forgot how much I loved being behind the lens, and now that I’ve returned, I want to take it to higher levels.
The past few months I’ve gotten to shoot Silverstein, Thursday, Frank Turner, Amigo the Devil, Ocean Colour Scene, and Kula Shaker. Along with writing and books, photography is my passion, and I plan on putting my knowledge and skills into this project and seeing where we can go.
Lorna
Hi, I’m Lorna — concert photographer, emo enthusiast, and one of the people behind Broken Static. I grew up in Lancashire but escaped to the South Coast a few years ago, where I’m now happily surrounded by seagulls, sea air, and far too many band tees.
My emo phase started when I was about ten, the day I bought Avril Lavigne’s Let Go — and honestly, it never really ended (nor do I want it to). Since picking up a camera, I’ve had some amazing opportunities in the music world. I shot Fall Out Boy a couple of years ago (yes, I cried), and photographed Download Festival last year, which was a total dream come true. I’ll be back at Download again this summer, and for the first time ever, I’m heading abroad with my camera to shoot Rock im Park 2025. Slightly terrified, but also very excited.
If you love screaming along to sad songs in crowded rooms, or you’re still clinging to your MySpace playlists, you’ll probably feel right at home here.
