If you like your music with a bit of dirt and grunge, then this band is for you. Triggered Velocity are a five piece band from Norfolk, who have put in the work to get where they are today. Working the small stages and venues, self promotion and raw live shows.

After winning a local competition of Battle Of The Bands at well-known rock venue, The Brickmakers, these guys made the push and put together their self-titled album and their hard work has paid off. This album is a piece of perfection.

The band members, Dom on drums, Pete and Marcus on guitar, Andy on bass and Keith on vocals, make an amazing mix of 90’s style of grunge, rock with a touch of modern hardcore thrown in.

The setting for the night was the intimate venue of Voodoo Daddy’s Showroom in Norwich, which was perfect to give that feel that was needed to show off this album in it’s entirety. The small room is great for making the acoustics bounce off the walls and letting the music speak for itself.

The support for the night were fellow local bands, The Jess Davey Band, Black River Renegade and Crowded Hyenas. Each band warmed up the crowd perfectly, adding their different sounds to the night.

Triggered Velocity stepped on the stage and the excitement was high. Starting off with “Fear My Truth”, the opener to the album, the drums echoed around the room with the catchy riffs of the guitars, giving everyone in the venue a taste of what was to come.

Carrying on with the albums, heavy sounds such as “Fall”, “Feed It” and a fan favourite “For Life” kept the energy high in the room, with the crowd moving along to the fast paced choruses, quick guitar riffs and the vocals of Keith keeping their ears alert. Heads nodding and bodies moving as the progression of the music made even the non-dancers in the venue, shift their feet. “Break The Habit” was loud and heavy, giving off Foo Fighters and Nirvana vibes while maintaining modern and unique.

The slower songs, “Burnt”, “Broken and “Not Worth The Hurt” were played with such passion. The vocals were a mix of power and pain, with the lyrics hitting the crowd in the chest. The drums and bass working with one another to amplifier that deep sound. The guitar solo in “Away With Me” is reminiscent of a power riff from The Eagles and the vocals gave gut wrenching emotion.

The ending track on the album, No More Heroes ” is a perfect finale. The guitars are soft but not too slow, staying upbeat in tune with the rest of the album. Triggered Velocity even treated the crowd to a new song, “Within” which the band have been working on the past few weeks. It was a surprise treat and left the venue excited for more for the future.

The whole feel of this album takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Songs which will make you want to jump up and burn that energy off, while other will make you want to sit back, relax to the hazy, slow sounds and powerful lyrics. If you like your 90’s alternative rock and grunge, along with that twist of indie and modern rock, this is definitely the album, and band, for you. Triggered Velocity showed Voodoo Daddy’s why they continue to climb the ladder in the music scene.
