Parting With Origin are an emerging modern metalcore band hailing from Southampton, on England’s south coast. Despite being a relatively new outfit, they’ve already made waves in their local scene — and beyond — with their raw energy, honest songwriting and evolving sound.

Formed in 2023, Parting With Origin is a five-piece group made up of vocalist Dan Mannix, guitarists Ethan Quinn and Mat Munday, bassist Dipen Mandalia, and drummer James Voss. Musically, Parting With Origin lean into metalcore, but they resist rigid genre labels.

Said in a previous interview, sometimes they write a “generic modern metalcore song,” but other times they experiment with unusual structures and sounds.
They combine extended-range guitars, double-kick drums, and both harsh and clean vocals — a hallmark of contemporary metal — while also being unafraid to stretch into more emotional or experimental territory.

Their debut EP, We All Wear Our Curses, dropped in April 2023 and the band have been going from strength to strength ever since, releasing new music every few months to tease their audience and are already gaining traction in the local metal community.  Although they’re currently working hard on their first full album — with most of the guitar tracks already laid — it’s clear they’re ambitious and dedicated.

Live, Parting With Origin are known for their high energy and emotional intensity.
They’ve already earned significant spots such as performimg on the EMP Stage at Bloodstock Open Air, a major achievement for such a fresh band.
Their performances mix heavy, aggressive songs with more introspective tracks, creating a varied but cohesive set experience.

Parting With Origin are clearly a band on the rise. They balance ambition with a grounded approach: writing what feels natural, playing live relentlessly, and navigating their evolving identity as a group. Their presence at Bloodstock and other live shows suggests they’re not just a local act — they have festival and touring potential.

The band have a new single releasing on 21st November too. “Evolve” showcases that unique sound this group creates, slowed down to show the new path that they are heading on, growing and maturing to show their versatility. This release is another step towards that long awaited album.

Evolve – Parting With Origin

In a local metal scene that’s rich and diverse, Parting With Origin stand out for their honesty, energy, and willingness to grow. As they continue this journey of “parting with origin,” they’re carving out a promising path forward — and for fans of modern metalcore in the UK, they’re definitely a band to watch.
