Formerly known as The Sunday Sadness, TSS are a French modern metal band with a sound that’s hard to pin down and even harder to ignore. Formed in 2016 by frontman Kirby, the lineup, completed by John on guitar and Hugo on drums, blends the intensity of metalcore and emo with synthwave textures and, more recently, hints of phonk and neo-metal. Their music feels cinematic, emotional, and unapologetically bold, pulling together influences that range from 2000s alt-rock to futuristic, glitchy production.

Their recent signing with Fearless Records has pushed them into a new era, with tracks like “KILLING ME” showcasing their knack for mixing crushing heaviness with hypnotic atmosphere. Live, that mix hits even harder. The moment the first riff dropped, the lights strobed, and the room erupted, a blur of movement, colour, and noise that wrapped everyone in.

Downstairs at The Dome was already packed when TSS took to the stage, the low ceiling glowing with flashes of red and blue light. The energy shifted instantly, this wasn’t just another show, it felt like the start of something bigger. As the opening notes to My Chemical Romances “welcome to the Black parade” rang out, the crowd erupted in excitement and amusement. They sung along eagerly as they awaited TSS to walk onto the stage.

Once onstage, Kirby commanded the stage with total confidence, switching effortlessly between melody and full-throttle screams. John’s guitar work added a sharp, mechanical edge, while Hugo’s drumming kept everything locked in and relentless. The sound was huge, the kind that fills a small venue and makes it feel like an arena.

The flashing lights pulsed with every beat, turning the basement venue into something cinematic, moments of brightness slicing through darkness, perfectly matching the push and pull of their sound. By the end of the set, the room was drenched in sweat and noise, the final notes echoing long after the lights faded.

For a band who’ve spent the last few years defining their sound, this night felt like proof that TSS are stepping into their stride. Intense, theatrical, and full of heart, they didn’t just headline The Dome; they owned it.
