Emerging from the vibrant Norwich music scene, Omega Bad (formerly known as Decay the Ocean) have rapidly built a reputation as one of the most exciting up‑and‑coming heavy alt‑rock/metal bands in the UK. Their energetic fusion of pounding riffs, soaring choruses, driving synths, and dynamic vocals has garnered attention from both local crowds and national press.

Roots & Sound

Hailing from Norfolk, Omega Bad blends the influence of bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, and Bad Omens into a fresh, modern style.

The band, David Betts on vocals, Harri Coley on guitar, Dylan Lawrence on bass and Caleb Slota on drums, these guys merge together to give a remarkable sound. Their early performances under their original name helped them refine a sound defined by high-intensity riffs, catchy electronic flourishes, along with clean vocals—creating atmosphere without losing edge.

Live Presence

Despite being relatively young, the band has already made waves with a hometown support slot for Lake Malice at Norwich’s Waterfront Studio on March 9 2024. Reviewers praised Omega Bad’s commanding stage presence and ability to energise a supportive local crowd. That show marked a turning point for Omega Bad, positioning them as band worthy of their own headline run.

In October 2023, the band returned to Waterfront Studio front-and-center as part of a UK tour, billed as a high‑energy alt‑rock showcase featuring tracks like “Tell Me What You Wanna Know,” and “All I Need,”. These singles all received BBC radio exposure and praise from outlets like Roadie Metal magazine. Their self-confidence in describing themselves as “ready to take the scene by storm” was reinforced by a highly energetic performance of their 2023 single “Control” .

Looking Ahead

Omega Bad are poised to break through on a broader scale. Local shows in Norwich remain the foundation of their rise, but their increasingly ambitious live output and positive press suggest continued growth. While plans for a full headline tour are still shaping up, their return engagement at the Waterfront Studio on Saturday 20th September 2025 indicates sustained local momentum and a reliable fan base willing to follow them into bigger venues.
